The Old Chapel is a radical Modernist conversion of a nineteenth-century Methodist chapel. It was designed in 1971 by the architect Trevor Bedford for the musician V.A.Hayes, winning an architectural prize. Its sociable free-flowing space is designed to gain maximum light, and it is executed in simple materials like white-painted blockwork and varnished pine.
